Cambridge English

The levels of Cambridge exams our students have sat during the past years have been the following:

YLE (Young Learners English): Starters, Movers, Flyers (Primary school students)

KET *for schools: Key English Test

PET *for schools: Preliminary English Test

FCE *for schools: First Certificate in English

CAE: Cambridge Advanced English

*for schools: The “for schools” version of exams have exactly the same level of difficulty and validity as the standard version, the only difference being the content of the exams. The content is more school-related and aimed at the age group of school-going candidates, making it easier for them to respond about topics that are more familiar to them.

We strongly encourage our students to take these exams for a number of reasons, such as:

  • they are internationally recognised qualifications that do not expire.
  • it provides a goal to work towards and helps students focus.
  • students get used to preparing and studying for an important exam and take an exam that is in a different format to their usual school ones with external examiners.
  • students become aware of just how much English they know.
  • the higher level exams, especially the FCE, are often a requirement for entry to many university courses/careers.
  • the sense of achievement and pride students feel upon receiving their results.
